Yes.

(Simply answer for a simple question. ;))

Academics are great. Especially in government, Chinese, English and economics. Alumni include the #3 guy at Goldman, countless I-bankers, congressmen, a US Vice PResident, Pullitzer Prize winners and authers like Terry Brooks and Ezra Pound. Don't worry about prestige, but I think Hamilton certainly has it.

Yes, Hamilton is very prestigious. It is among the 15 best LACs according to US News.

It may not be as well known (as even LACS go) because it is so small and rural, but have seen many grads do well in job and grad school placements. I think #15 is by far the highest it's been on that list and and usually more around #20, but is still regarded as a good school.

its waaaay overranked by USnews, but nevertheless, it is indeed an amazing school

Hamilton is a top school

Waaay -ranked? It is definitely not overranked. I am pretty familiar with Hamilton. They just built a new $50 million dollar science center, alumni donations are better than ever, and several top scholars have recently been added to the faculty. Extensive new facilities are in the works over the next couple of years and this year's freshman class is the best qualified ever.

Hamilton's got a Sigma Phi chapter there, that's all it matters. ;)

I think it's currently at least a little overranked. In most years, Colby & Bates are and should be ranked a little higher.

they have a varsity streaking team ;)

Thank you very much for answering my questions.

I was little bit worried about Hamiltons academics because when people talked about LACs, they often excluded Hamilton from their topics.

Do you know anything about Hamilton's science program?
How good is science at Hamilton?

Thank you very much.

I've gotten the impression that Hamilton is much stronger in humanities and social sciences than harder sciences.

OK, I've never heard of Hamilton...

My daughter graduated from Hamilton last year with a B.A. in chemistry. Aside from getting a quality liberal arts education, she received excellent mentoring from a chem professor. She spent two summers on campus doing research, received a Goldwater scholarship in her junior year and is currently in Brazil as a Fulbright Fellow doing pharmaceutical research at the University of Sao Paolo.

Perhaps people outside the Northeast have not heard much about Hamilton, but I would say that it is a quality school that prepares its students well for future success in the sciences and in other disciplines.
