If I am looking at Haverford, what if I'm not looking as much for the 'quirky' side of things?

I am a bit nerdy, but in the 'Thinks the Schroedinger's Cat joke in House was hilarious' way, rather than the knee high striped socks way. I haven't been able to visit, so although that would be a great solution, it is more of a 'if I get in' thing.

But seeing these thread hyping Haverford as 'quirky' are making me wonder just how well I'd fit in, as someone who doesn't find themselves that quirky.

If you notice, all of the links I provide and discussions on “quirky” don’t involve words like “hipster” or “hippie” or “avant guard fashionista”. The underlying point is that there is a “quirky” presence @ HC and this is usually manifested by the “uniqueness” of students’ thoughts and acts… not necessarily by what they look like. After all, choosing to go to a tiny LAC, let alone one with strong Quaker traditions, is non-mainstream to start.

As “hype” to me means to “inflate” and often without “proof” (as in the saying “it’s all hype”), I’m pretty sure I don’t do that. I try to not make generalizations about the student population but rather point out consistent examples of a “quirky” presence at the college as demonstrated by anecdote. There’s a difference.

Finally, about you using that show “House” as a frame of reference… I think you’d be better off if you quoted “Heroes” as even characters with super powers are more believable than the "doctors" in that other show. ;)
