Is honors college worth it?

Would they help you alot? Is it same as high school to undergrad where taking honors and ap is a def. plus in admissions?

Won’t make a difference. If you do decide on honors, do it because you want to do it, not for admission or application purposes.

i’ve heard it doesnt help, unless in a science honors program, u take the honors research and publish a paper…

It probably won’t help in medical school admissions directly. Adcoms are unlikely to think more highly of you because of the honors tag on your transcript.

However, taking honors coursework may actually benefit your GPA. At many colleges, honors courses are actually easier than their regular counterparts due to more generous curves.

well, there are only 3 or 4 extra classes u have to take to complete the honors req’s… that want necessarily increase ur GPA by much, especially not before applying because u do honors classes most in ur senior year… like senior honors seminar, honors research 2… and stuff like that…

there are other classes u have to take too, but they are just higher level major’s classes… not necessarily classes which only honors students can take…

Every “honors college” or “honors program” works differently vick; yours is not representative of everyone’s, nor is everyone else’s representative of yours.

At my school, a number of honors classes are required (and available) to graduate with the honors designation; most are easier than their non-honors counterparts for precisely the reason shades mentioned.

^^ yea i see… i figured that because my U has very less difference between the regular and honors bio major… I guess the classes for honors at out U are difficult because there are so few of them u need to take…

Honors have a lot of benefits like Merit $$, early registration, small classes. Classes are not much more difficult at all, actually some kids agrre that they are easier becuase they are much smaller and prof. is more accessible.
