it's pretty pricey
so i was wondering is interlochen a good camp for visual arts? is it worth it? is it like one of those NSLC similar camps that's not very exclusive? do colleges like interlochen?

i have so many questions about it
hopefully someone can help me decide

Interlochen is AMAZING!! I loved it. If you are accepted, I think for high school is pretty competitive, you should go. The camp is well organized and has a beautiful view! The think I like most of the over all camp experience was that you get to go to these amazing concerts. Also, you can go sailing everyday. What would you major in??

I spent five summers at Interlochen and absolutely LOVED it. I would go back in a heartbeat, but sadly have other plans this summer. They are much more well known for their music program, but visual arts is generally good. In my opinion the program has gone somewhat downhill since Jeff Kimpton came on as president, but I think he's doing better with it now. Any other questions you have, let me know and I'll be happy to try to answer them.

The general impression that I've gotten in terms of colleges is that it looks really good. Everyone I've spoken to has at least heard of it, and many have spoken highly of it. It really is an amazing experience and I highly recommend it. A lot of college reps visit it during the summer, so you have an opportunity for portfolio reviews which is great if you're planning to go to college for art.

If you end up going, say hi to Chad for me! ^_^

It seemed really cool but so expensive! My parents would burn that much money in a heartbeat on something where I'd get college credit, but they just don't appreciate art enough to let me go :( but I'm going to an awesome drama camp around here anyway, so I'm okay!

it's true. alot of art schools/colleges/etc., come to visit over do masterclasses, have portfolio reviews and can accept you on the spot. i think you can call and ask to talk to a student or email with one. or on myspace there are a few interlochen groups, so maybe you can ask there. i'm a theatre major so i'm not very caught up with VA stuff.
it was the most amazing experience of my life though.
