Are you attending Interlochen? Have you taken Visual Arts classes in the High School Academy? Are the Visual Arts teachers good painters? Are they good teachers? Is it worth it for Visual Arts (painting and drawing)? Not talking about the Summer Camp teachers, but rather the year-long visual arts faculty.

Music and other programs have incredible teachers, but what about the Visual Arts teachers? I am looking for first hand experiences.

ALSO, what happens to kids who are not boarding? Do they get left out by others? Is it totally not worth it to be one of the kids who does "day school" only?

What is the environment like? Any info appreciated! :-)

Is it possible that there isn’t anyone out there who can help?

maybe posting in highschool forum?
even music kids might know something about art kids.
Here people talk mostly about colleges or summer classes.

I see kids win big awards from there, can’t be bad.

and the name is cool. what is the story?

Bumping this message up. Is it possible that no one knows Interlochen?

Maybe I should start thinking about Idyllwild, which is cool too, and the weather is nicer.

i went to interlochen for summer camp, so I know a little bit about it. They recently built new art facilities which are phenomenal, and they have plenty of room for art students because of the new space. The students in VA get a lot of merit awards at art colleges, and apparently they even take art awards away from each other in a sense because, if you are working on art 3-5 hours a day with top notch facilities and professionally trained artists and art teachers in an intensive environment…you have quite an advantage. Interlochen is an awesome place to be, and I would recommend going for a summer in high school if possible! pm if you want
