or is it just a program, like pre-law and pre-med? At first I thought it was a major since college board listed it as one, yet as I was applying for the University of Pittsburgh, the first time I looked at an application, international studies was not listed as a major. There is, however, the University Center for International Studies. What is this about? Is it a major?

Many colleges have a major in International Relations, which is a combination of economics and political science, both with an international focus, and a foreign language.

Thats true for everything. For everything, you can do your own research. The point of forums are to be part of that research or to make it easier. Tell me, what questions are alright to ask in forums? Computer forums where you ask how some computer things work? READ THE MANUAL, Travel forums where you ask how a visa system works? CALL THE EMBASSY. College forums where you ask about your chances? LOOK AT THE STATISTICS OF A COLLEGE AND LOGICALLY ANALYZE AND COMPARE IT TO YOURSELF.

i didn’t mean to sound that way. I don’t see how asking “does that mean I must be in the Honors program to get that degree?” constitutes as demand. Sorry.

shadowzoid - many colleges offer an “International Studies” undergraduate degree. Some call it IS, others call IR. Some schools like Pitt and BC it is a honors degree program only. I.E. you have to either be in the honors program, or you have to apply to the IS major soph yr and have a certain GPA and ltrs of rec, etc. See the specific college for details.

The general description/requirements of the IS major varies with each school, but it is as above post.

Note - most colleges call the degree “International Relations” at the Graduate Level, and Undergraduate degree IS (International Studies)or IA’s (International Affairs).

Some Univeristies have completely separate “colleges” devoted to IS/IR such as GT, GW, AU, Ivy’s. Very popular but usually harder ro get into tha the College of Arts and Sciences.
