Do the hours eventually get better?

It really depends. Some people get burnt out, some people love it, some people deal with it to get paid for 2-3 years and then move on to something less intensive. It really depends on the person and their reasons for going into the business in the first place.

If you are getting into banking hoping for light hours you are in the wrong business just as a person who pursues consulting but hates traveling and never wants to be away from home is entering the wrong business. The hours in IB are bad - if you get into a very small boutique they will be better, but will always take up at least some weekends and some late nights.

The hours eventually get better, but then the travel is usually increased - senior bankers visiting clients, potential clients, etc. It’s a tough job, but as are most things that pay well and provide strong exit opps.
