Hi, i'm using my brother's account, and I figured i'd ask this on here. I go to a second tier university. My gpa isn't stellar by any means, but let me explain that. I started school with 2.8 cumulative gpa because I was having a hard time adjusting (and due to other personal issues), but every year my gpa kept improving. I was going to major in math, but that changed my junior year when I found a passion for sociology (BS). My sociology major gpa is a 3.8 (with all difficult classes) and because i've been keeping my grades up, I was accepted onto the dean's list at my school. I also brought my cumulative gpa to a 3.43 thanks to my hard work. I don't really have that much relevant experience in sociology becuase I was so focused on math for the majority of my college years. However, I do plan on going on a conference for a sociological research in Las Vegas with my professor and will get a publication for the first time. I do plan on getting my own publication after this on my own. My GRE scores are OK. I took it and got 1010 (math was high 600s, but the reading part screwed me over). I'm taking GRE classes and i've alreayd seen improvement. I plan on scoring at least a 1200 on the GRE.

Sorry for that long paragraph lol.

Anyway, I plan on getting letters of rec from my fav. professors. I'm going to apply to these schools (demography program): UMass-Amherst, UCI, Florida State, Penn State, Ohio State, University of Chicago, Berkeley, Princeton, UIUC, and Indiana U.

Now, I know it's not the best to ask here since grad school is totally different but I guess what I am asking if if a student like me can get into at least one of these schools? Thanks!
