Right now i’m interested in both but my peers keep telling me that double majoring is a lot of work and it’s not worth it. I want to go into theater but I want something to fall back on and i’m really into politics so I figured that would be a good fallback. But will the workload be unbearable?
A double major in theater and political science may be doable, assuming a BA and not a BFA. However, most musical theater programs are BFAs, which would be a dual degree, and take longer than four years, which isn’t good if you want to go into theater (you’ll spend a lot of money that you’ll need when you graduate for living expenses).
You’ll have to look into schools and see how flexible their programs are. I do know at my university, it could be possible to double major in theater and political science, while also minoring in both music and dance, assuming you’ve got a lot of credits coming in (I know this because I was able to major in both math and CS and minor in music and dance in four years). But probably the better thing to do would be to double major in theater and political science in a BA program, and just continue your dance and music training, which is usually possible even for non majors/minors.
Why not try a double major or a major in one with a minor in the other. You will probably find one more to your current interests or even something else.
Please drop the word bad. Bad is robbing a bank or something equal!y wrong. Combining dance and political science is challenging now, but not bad.
