Is it a good idea to some overseas volunteer work in college?

<p>For summer: Is it more worthwhile to volunteer overseas or to do research?
For winter break: Is it a good idea?
I'm not considering taking a quarter off during the schoolyear to do work though.</p>

<p>Also...how hard is it to get accepted to one of those overseas volunteer programs? Has anyone done it before? How did you find funding?</p>

<p>Whatever you do, try not to pay for anything except for your flight. There’s always WOOF where you can work on a farm for a couple of hours a day in exchange for room and board.</p>
