is it a possibility? harvard/yale law

i just finished my first semester at the university of pennsylvania with a 3.9 gpa (im in the engineering school--probably a bioengineering major). i got two As, one A+, and 2 A-s.

if i continue to do this well, and assuming i do well on the LSAT, do you think i have a chance at harvard or yale law? is a 3.9 in penn engineering impressive?

... you have not yet eliminated yourself from the running. Congratulations.

Hell yeah, that's impressive. Assuming you've gotten through some tough intro bio and engineering classes with that GPA at an Ivy, you're obviously smart enough to do well on the LSAT.

That said, why the hell are you asking this now? That's like a preschooler asking "I just got an A+++ on my dwaring...Will I get in2 Harvawd?" You've got a good start, but a looooong way to go before anyone can say for sure.

Oh, and you MUST get involved in something spectuacular in order to have a shot at Y or S.

I'm looking at a 3.4 (best case, a 3.5) this semester (first semester freshman year). I guess I've taken myself out of the running for Harvard or Stanford, and have to "settle" for NYU/Columbia/Penn/Chicago/Mich/UVa/Duke. Or (gasp!) Georgetown.

Excuse me while I go jump off the 7th floor of the library. (and yes, this is a joke, I'm not suicidal, despite what my choice of college might indicate)

Are you kidding me? If you want to brag at least attempt to be subtle.

Congrats - that's a hell of a first semester.

But as a Penn student myself, I've seen most of my engineering friends nosedive in grades, especially in their sophomore year.

So, work super-hard and come back in 18 months and see where you stand.

Congrats on 3.9, that's impressive!
What about a 3.5-ish GPA (my freshman GPA is actually a little lower than that now but since none of my future classes include Orgo, things should be fine, :p) from Duke with a near-perfect LSAT?
Would I STAND any chance at Harvard/Yale law schools??
What about the other T14 schools?

Mondo,

You're nowhere near out of the running. Just start busting your ass and choosing classes carefully

It's always better to have an actual LSAT in hand before making such projections.

hahahahahahaha. i totally do not remember writing this and just accidentally found this by searching google for “bioengineering to yale law school.”

i can’t believe i wrote this. anyway…just finished up senior year at penn with a 3.88 and finishing my master’s in bioengineering in december. taking lsat in october…wish me luck!

Congrats on being a prestige whore and general ******* all of your life so far. As far as your question, it is impossible to know what schools you’re looking at without your LSAT score. Have a nice day.

Congratulations fullhouselove. I hope you get into the law school of your choice.

One semester as a Frosh Engineer and you’re getting cocky. /facepalm You’re going to fall flat on your face with that attitude.

It gets much harder. Specially in junior/senior year. It’s doubtful you will maintain a 3.9

People seem to be missing that the original post is from 2007 and he just updated…

hahaha I just noticed that. Thanks for the heads up.
