Is it bad to have an 'unbalanced' senior schedule?

My schedule for next year (my senior year) has received very different reviews from my teachers, parents and guidance counselor. Some people are saying that it's fine because the classes I want to take are of high importance to me, but others are saying that I need to be more well-rounded and take challenging courses in all subjects. I'm not really sure who to believe...SO I came on here once again to see if I could get any advice.

In short, I want to take 3 AP social studies classes. I'm really interested in/passionate about the social sciences, especially government, and everything in my application - ECs, teacher recs, supplemental rec, counselor rec, writing samples, essays - will reflect that. I've taken a balanced curriculum full of AP classes throughout high school and enjoy other subjects, but I really am looking to pursue my interest in gov't now. This is why I'd like to take more social science classes. The feedback I've received has made me wary of this, though.

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is if my schedule is truly unbalanced, and if that's a bad thing when it comes to college admissions/preparation.

This is what I'm considering taking:

-AP US Gov't
-AP Comp Gov't
-AP Econ
-Pre-calc
-Japanese 4
-New Media, Film & Comp (I could take AP Lit and do well, but I don't really wanna, plus this class seems to fit my interests better)

Any feedback?

Thank you :)

if you’re extremely good at gov’t kind of things, you can self-study for comparative very easily just to get the test score, unless you just want the classroom experience of discussing the material. true story. also, if possible, stat AP? and i don’t know how your school works but i skipped pre-cal and went from alg 2 to calc AP… unless you’re really not much of a math person. i’d take AP lit instead of the other one, for the weighting, AP credit, and the rigor, but that’s just me. i think AP lit is manageable, especially if you’re a thinker, but it’s up to you. having a diverse schedule is pretty important, i think, but i had a really weird thing with three different schools and a totally off-kilter schedule, so i think you’ll do fine if you really demonstrate that passion.

i say go for the schedule you plan
do what you love, and don’t worry
a college will love you for who you are…or they wont
don’t change to fit their ideal

ur fine!
