Is it bad that I'm planning on having a more rigorous schedule my senior year than my junior year. I've heard that I'm supposed to have a more rigorous schedule my junior year but at my school the majority of ap and dual enrollment classes are only offered to seniors. For example, only 2 ap's are offered to juniors. Does that put me at a disadvantage??? My counselor told me colleges barely look at your senior year schedule so I feel like that will really ruin my chances....

The only issue I have with taking a more rigorous course load senior year than junior year is that if its too rigorous, you could very well ruin your GPA right before college applications get sent… But if you can ensure that you’ll maintain good grades, I don’t think you’ll be at a disadvantage.

Because you will most likely not have midyear reports for your senior year when you submit your college apps, they will look at your grades up through your junior year; and they will look at the classes that you have scheduled for your senior year. Some colleges may ask you to send your senior midyear grades.

If your school limits the number of AP classes the student can take prior to senior year, which will be noted on the school profile your school will send to your colleges, they will not hold that against you. The colleges will judge you against your high school profile not other high schools.
