Is it benefical to take AP classes outside of school?

I plan on taking them in the summer, and I was wondering if these help with college admissions. I will take the AP test for these classes and as far as I know it factors into my GPA.

Are you self-studying these APs? AP tests are only offered in May, so if you do AP summer course work, you will have to refresh your memory before tests come out. Test results are not released unitl July, so any APs taken in senior year, you won’t be able to report those test scores.

This is a little confusing. The grade from the summer course work is factored into your GPA? By all means do it, and yes, colleges like to see AP classes. Just realize that you won’t be doing the tests unitl May, and will not get results until July.

Do colleges know that I a taking courses from two different places ( school and this place) or is it all branched under the same thing?

Well, they ask you for your educational background, so you’d need to tell them. Additionally, your data is in the National Student Clearinghouse, which all college have access to. So, yeah.
