Is it better (in terms of FA) to apply ED to CMU?

CMU says on their website that they will meet full financial need for those accepted ED. I calculated my EFC using their methodology (FM) and my parents said it's a viable sum. Now, I know I have to get accepted first to worry about money, but is it a better idea to apply RD and compare offers or just go straight for this one. This school is one of my top 3 schools and I wish to apply to this one ED because of it's pledge to meet all need.

Thank you.

any suggestions?

This question is often asked and answered. Generally, you’re likely to get a better deal applying RD. Assuming CMU is not your safety school, in which case you can probably write your own ticket, your safety schools will probably make you a better offer than you can get from CMU and CMU is very good about matching more generous offers.

Be sure to note that not all the schools at CMU have ED. Also, I thought that CMU “tries” to meet financial need but does not commit to meeting it completely. Also, their package has more loans sometimes than other schools. Sometimes CMU will meet the financial aid package of another school but this isn’t an option for ED applicants. Be careful about applying ED if financial aid is a critical factor in your ability to attend CMU.
