When you’re deferred after applying EA/ED, do you have a higher (or lower) chance of getting in in the Regular round, or are you compared just like any other RD applicant?
At most schools I’m pretty sure you have about the same chance of getting in as all other RD applicants.

Depends on the school. Some give ED/EA rejections to those who would not be admitted in the regular round, so deferrals at those schools would be those who are close enough to the (as yet undetermined) threshold of admission to have a chance of admission or rejection in the regular round. But other schools use deferral as a “polite rejection” in the ED/EA round, so few deferred applicants actually have a significant chance of admission in the regular round.
