Is it better to get a C+ in Spanish 3 or withdraw?

I know it’s better to withdraw than to get a C, but three years of foreign language is strongly recommended(not required) for most of the colleges I am applying to. Should I drop? I am confident next semester I can get at least a B.

What’s stopping you from getting the extra support you need to turn the C into a B this semester? Have you been to see your teacher?

A single C isn’t going to kill you at most schools. If you are applying to highly selective places, it’s a problem, but not otherwise.

I am concerned about this very topic. My dyslexic, dysgraphic son (grade 9) is already struggling in his second year of Spanish. He wants to drop. I won’t allow it, because I understand it is far worse to have your transcript show withdrawn than to get through the course. He is a very good student otherwise, and I think he should at least be able to maintain an 80. Really, it all comes down to doing the work, paying attention, and studying for tests. I do worry that the poor showing in Spanish will be a problem for any of his reach schools, but his school counselor should be noting that in her letter come application time.

I don’t if I can get it up to a B since the semester is going to end in a little over a month. In the event that I can’t raise it to a B-, and end up with a C+, would it be better to drop or keep the C+? I have an A in all of my classes except for AP Physics which I have a B+.

Bump, i’m pretty sure I will end up with a C+ at this point and the deadline to withdraw classes is coming up…
