It doesn't bother me too much, but still I'm curious about how many people will think I'm a weirdo for going back to school at 26.

I'm doing very well at my local community college and I really want to transfer to FSU as soon as I'm able to. Weird or not I'm still going to go but my brother and his wife said that I'd be "that weird guy" if I went to FSU at my age.

Are there a lot of people who do this or will I be pretty much the oldest guy on campus?

Bernard James, FSU basketball player who was recently drafted by the Dallas Mavericks, is 27. He was also in the Armed Forces after high school.

I went back to college (Texas A&M) at 28. Was it weird? A little. Did I care? No way!

Trust me, you won’t be the only “non-traditional” student around. More and more people in their 20’s and 30’s are returning to university. Chances are some of your classmates will look up to you in a ‘big brother’ sort of way. In addition, I think you’ll find your instructors will treat you with increased respect.

I learned a lot about such things when raising my daughters. More me from them, it seems at times! :)

The important thing is that older undergrads at Florida State are not unusual. There are a LOT of military vets starting life over, so to speak, after military service at Florida State. FSU has a vet center to work with these students, which is nice. Funny to think of a seasoned combat vet as a freshman, but that is the reality and as an FSU alumnus I am glad these folks selected FSU.

I’m 25 and transferred to FSU for this semester (Summer). No one can tell how old anyone is here. Also there are people who are much older than you and I who are going back to school. It doesn’t phase anybody, we are all here for the same purpose.
It’s only weird if you make it weird.

This, I’m 24 and at your age I doubt anyone will tell you apart from a 21 year old. There a lady in my class now that must be in her late 50’s!
