So who is 25+ at these schools?

Hey all. I posted on here a couple of months ago regarding some suggestions for how I should proceed with my academic career as a “less-traditional transfer student” (that is: 26 with a non-linear past and plenty of hiccups). I’ve sent out all my applications for the spring 2017 semester and now there’s nothing else to do now but wait.

So, that said, these are the colleges I applied to:

University of Southern Maine (safety)
Colby
Emerson
BU
Northeastern
NYU
Fordham
Cornell
University of San Francisco (safety-ish)

My question is for those who attend/have attended those schools (or someone who is otherwise just an oracle): what’s the 22-29 situation like within the student body? I’m familiar with USM and Colby because I’m from Maine, and I wouldn’t feel out of place being 26 at either of those colleges, however I can’t speak for the others. If by some miracle I’m allowed entry into any of the non-Maine schools, I’d like to know that I won’t seem like Goliath in garden, so to speak. I’ve looked at student ratio break-downs on sites like Niche and I see figures like 3% of students at NYU above the age of 25, which is to be expected I guess, but I’d like more insight.

I can’t really comment on any of those schools in particular but at my college I had several close friends in their late 20s. It really wasn’t a big deal at all, we were all still essentially in the same place in life. I actually just attended the wedding of one of them! (He was 27 when he started college, she was ‘traditional’ age). I imagine at the city schools you’ve picked out, it’ll feel like even less of a big deal.

I’d not worry how the younger kids might perceive you. The question might be, how will it be for you to be around 18 and 19 year-olds? But seriously, you’ll be fine, a little older and mature enough to really appreciate what you can learn.
