Is it embarrassing to attend SDSU?

Not to sound arrogant or cocky but I was wondering if it would be embarrassing to attend state. I've been admitted to Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD. I am my school's valedictorian. I am planning on going to law school so want a high GPA this is why Im not considering UCLA or UCB.

So what I'm getting at is have any of your school's valedictorian wound up going to state. I don't want to feel that I am wasting my life and time attending what some call a "mediocre" school.

Should I just suck it up and attend UCSD?

Sdsu != ucsd

Edit: Oops, I just read that you’re going into law.
What if you don’t get a good GPA at SDSU? And then what?
In this case, you might want to attend a UC.

Thanks. Im thinking about UCSD

How much you learn might affect your LSAT.

You shouldn’t choose a college just because you think that it’ll be “easier” to get good grades. On the other hand, I don’t think that going to a certain school is “embarrassing” just because it’s rankings are not as high as some of the other schools. If you don’t want to go to UCLA, UCSD, or Cal because you don’t think you can maintain a competitive GPA, then maybe law is too competitive for you.

I suggest you get informed about SDSU before putting it down.

SDSU is the nations leading small research university, it is also the CSU school with the most doctoral programs.

It has joint doctoral programs with UCSD as well, networking opportunities, and research opportunities are not difficult to find.

College is what you make of it. Going to an Ivy league school might help your job application get to the top of the pile, maybe it will get you the interview. Once you are there its all about what you know, and if you can apply it to the real world. Being able to sell your skill set, having communication skills, people skills, motivation, and a solid educational foundation to stand on.

When it comes to law school, its not all just about theory and books, You need to have strong communication skills, critical thinking skills, analytical skills and learn to apply them.

Also for your information. San Diego State’s Communication program (Which is great preparation for law school). is ranked within the top five in the country both M.A and B.A so if you want to go to law school getting a B.A in Communication from SDSU is a great way to go. Furthermore, not being $100,000 in debt after you finish a B.A is always a plus. Trust me you will need that $100,000 of debt when you go into law school. ;)

I take great pride in attending SDSU. I was able to go to UCSD, in fact back when I was a psychology major I did research there. Decided the major was not for me (I am not at all interested in research) and went back to community college to finish the requirements to transfer to SDSU’s Communication program. I feel a lot more comfortable at SDSU, and when it comes to networking opportunities for the real world. (By which I mean getting a job after a B.A or M.A outside of academia) SDSU is actually a better networking school than UCSD.
