I'm finishing my freshman year at a small liberal arts school with a gpa between 2.6-2.75 (not sure until grades come out). I really want to transfer, and I'm taking summer coursework to boost my gpa before next year, but even with a 4.0 through fall semester, I'll only have around a 3.35-3.4 gpa. My high school grades are horrible, I have high test scores and involvement around school, but otherwise not exactly exceptional.

I plan to attend medical school.. my science gpa is high (3.85); other coursework not so much. Would it be a better idea to stay here or find a different school? I know I'll need recommendations, etc and I have the opportunity to do lab work with one of my professors next year... I'm not sure what to do.

I feel like staying is just going to discourage me and drag my gpa down even more. This school was definitely not my first choice. I feel a bit like a failure for not attending a better school, and I think that's influencing how I feel as well.
