Is it harder to get into law school if you already finished grad school?

i mean its a weird question, but if after you get a MS degree and you decide to app for law school will they look down on you (like why didnt you apply right after undergrad or is your heart really set on law?)

I would say it helps you, assuming you didn’t nosedive your GPA. Grad work shows you can handle grad level workloads. Sending a check with 5 0’s in it to your law school shows you’re serious.

I was 26 when I started law school and there were plenty of first years my own age and some even considerably older. So I don’t think time taken out for an MS degree will raise any of the questions you pose.

Lots of law students have master’s degrees. There are lots of ABDs too .(ABD means all but dissertation.) I don’t think it helps or hurts in the application process.

I had my master’s degree when I went to law school. I think it is even more common for people to go back to law school after a second degree or work experience now than it was then.

So if you go to grad school first then it is fine if you want to start law school right after?

They don’t look down on you at all for it (nor do they look up to you). The grades won’t be calculated into your GPA, but you will still need to send them your transcripts.

So yes, it’s fine.
