In our case, my work schedule meant that such visits were problematic. My son made one visit (to Williams) after admission but not on admitted students day. (Way out in western Massachusetts, it wasn’t an easy or quick place to reach for us, but we did it.) He made another on an admitted students day at UChicago, and morning after his overnight he declared “this will do.” End of visits. He never visited Carlton, another college he was admitted to, but he would have if he hadn’t liked Chicago enough. Nor did he visit UMich after admission, but he had spent two summers at debate camp in Ann Arbor, so he knew a fair bit about the location.
My daughter didn’t attend any admitted students day. She wanted to visit MICA, but we couldn’t schedule that trip on short notice. She accepted RISD, which she had visited prior to applying but didn’t see again until she moved in during her first year there.
