Is it just me or are you all excited to leave high school (and why)

You don’t automatically become someone else once you graduate HS and start college.

College can be hard too. Being away from home, trying to make friends. You might have been one of the top students in high school, now you might be average.

Good point, @mommdc I guess I just want a new chance and more opportunities.

I WANT TO LEAVE SCHOOL SO BAD. I JUST WANT TO START COLLEGE ALREADY UGH LIKE OUT OF ALL PEOPLE I AM THE MOST EXCITED. I DON’T have Senioritis though, thankfully. BUT I WILL at the fourth semester haha. However, I will definitely miss my very close friends. I WONT MISS MY FAMILY THOUGH HAHA. Yes, I know I will end up realizing they have been super important in my life, blah blah blah. BUT I want some kind of independence in my life without constant annoying hovering on their part. I just wanna start university, restart my life (kinda, since new threshold and whatnot), and be a better person

Any specific grievances, @bloxJacket ?btw, what does the the being a better person have to do with it (although I’d love to be a better person as well)? I already have senioritis and school barely started, lol

I can’t wait to go to college. I’m just sick of all the crap that goes on at high school. Plus, from what I’ve seen on snapchat, those parties are lit.

@greenteen17 my class if filled with this group of like 20 teen girls that are the gossip girls group of my school of 1,000 kids. 24/7 they always gossip, even about annoying stuff. For example, this past week there has been gossip (true, gossip, which is surprising) that 9 Freshman girls have lice. My family always yells at me and expects me to do 43893289954032890389367891734073589234 things at once so I ain’t taking that no more. My parents also always causes threats, try to kick me out of the house, etc. FOR NOT DOING STUFF LIKE DOING THE DISHWASHER BECAUSE OF APUSH HOMEWORK OR NOT FOLDING MY LAUNDRY BECAUSE AP CHEM LAB HOMEWORK. LIKE UM??? I don’t party, drink, smoke, or anything, but they discipline me like there is no tomorrow. Yeah, yeah, I’m still a ‘teen’ but I’m very responsible and mature, so my parents are just the annoying pieces of my life. I will also be restarting my life because new place, new people, new friends, new expectations, new goals, new everything… Yeah senioritis hasn’t hit me yet thankfully lmao.

@bloxJacket that sucks :frowning:

@bloxJacket Woah, I never liked high school that much but I think you should chill a little. Have you spoken to anybody about your problems or talked to your parents about their unnecessary pressure? No need to be over-dramatic.

@noplayallwork I like highschool, but I’m kinda over it already. Just wanna start my life again. Lol talking about my problems will go no where, trust me I’ve done it many times. They really don’t care what I have to say but it’s whatever. And I may be over dramatic, but in my household, my previous comment is 1% of the real suffering I go through day-in day-out :slight_smile:

I sure am… my high school is an unrealistic preparation for college which judges you by numbers. A kid with a 90 average will be more successful than a kid with an 85 average. If you don’t go to U of M instead of MSU, you’re deemed a jock and not bright enough for U of M. Combined with a huge epidemic of cannabis, extremely provocatively dressed females which sway our focus elsewhere, and although I don’t give into the “popular” activity that the “cool” kids do, it’d be a lie if I said it didn’t influence me inside the head. Just makes us second guess ourselves and we wonder what would it be like if we did such and such. Also, cheating in my school is RIDICULOUS. Kids will do ANYTHING to get the answers to the tests. I just can’t wait to leave on and go to a college that fits my personality and likes, and where cheaters aren’t given a second chance.

Ugh. Believe me, we’re not doing it for you. Have some self control. 8-|

My bad. Sorry, I’m human. Guess it’s for teachers instead

It’s for US. Girls wear what makes them happy. I prefer fitted shirts over baggy ones because they’re what I think looks good on me, not because I’m trying to attract other students or teachers (ew, dude).

We’re human too, and yet somehow we survive and do well in school despite there being attractive guys around, so “But they’re being ~TEMPTRESSES~ and it’s SO DISTRACTING” is absolute crap. I had several classes with my boyfriend in high school and worked on projects with him a lot. Stands to reason that I think he’s hot, right? And yet I easily got my work done without being distracted. It’s simple. Not our fault if someone else can’t do the same.

This year’s been weird because I’m enjoying a lot of what I’m doing in school right now, I have an incredible group of friends that prioritizes kindness and potluck dinners, and on the whole my grade is super friendly and welcoming and all of us are enjoying each other’s company before we all leave for college.

At the same time though, I’m more stressed than I’ve ever been about school/college apps/ECs/etc., and all of it’s taking a toll on everyone I’ve talked to. I’m not excited to get out of high school so much as I’m really excited to go to college. I think I’ll be able to grow in ways I haven’t yet in high school.

Also, it’d be great if we could drop the misogyny re: who women dress for.
