Is It Legit

lol... were we this neurotic/needy in our pre-bruin years?

^I was.

As for the OP, I think you really should stop posting and asking how to get into this school. UCLA will reward you with an admissions if you demonstrate the kind of academic achievements it wants. If you're asking for shortcuts, then no one on here knows about any (except maybe being good at sports). Flopsy's ratings are fairly conservative on your chances, but they're generally very fair. Just because someone rated as a reach gets in doesn't mean his ratings are wrong, and neither does it say anything significant about your chances either. Just do your best in high school, and worry about it when it comes.

im not completely sure but i think i was a slight reach and i got in =)

first of all people im a GIRL and a SOPHOMORE in HS for the millionth time. im just worried ok. its my dream school and i really want to get in and why are you guys so mean to me. im not looking 4 shortcuts, just help and if ur just a nasty person i dont want your help then. and you know something else i have the right to ask any question i want if you dont like dont post on my discussions. Thank you.

But what are you really trying to ask? How do the individual outcomes of 5-15 people out of 50,000+ applicants help you to determine your chances?

You're a sophomore so you still have plenty of time to make everything good. You aren't even 25% of the way into what they look for on the UC App...

Also, attacking people who post is not going to help your cause here. You're coming off sounding like an immature whiner. I don't see a point in looking at all this stuff when it changes year to year. The only year that really means a lot in terms of comparison is the year right before your year. Even then, the numbers are no guarantee. Just work hard and don't think so much about it. Also, please lose the attitude (no, being a sophomore girl does not excuse that).

look,

1) lose the attitude

2) i believe UCs dont look at ur freshman and senior year, or at least thats how they calculate the UC GPA

3) ur only a sophomore, who knows wut might come up by the time of college apps. when i was a sophomore, i wanted to go to NYU, then i found out about UChicago, then I found out about Penn. i chose here because UCLA costs the least

4) i really dont understand wut ur deal is. I mean we were all paranoid, but u are just way over the top

being worried about numbers isn't going to result in better numbers, it's going to result in a stomach ulcer!
dream school or no, your high school experience should reflect YOUR path and your goals, not simply be a means to an end. and not that i'm questioning whether ucla is your dream school or not, but, please for sanity's sake keep in mind that things happen. you may fall in love with a different school, one you may not be thinking about because you are so focused on ucla. heck when i was a sophomore i was focused on cal poly slo as my dream school, and had NO desire to go to a UC!
please keep your options open: you have PLENTY of time to find your way in the world, and the best way to get someplace where you will be happy, is by doing things that make you happy and doing them well. focusing on grades and other stats is going to drive you, the people around you, and the people here, just short of nuts. why? because we know that numbers aren't everything.
in the long run who YOU are is what matters. your stats don't, won't, and can't show who you are, so don't become a slave to them.
