Is it likely decisions will be out early?

I am just curious since NC State put out their EA results nearly 5 days ahead of when they said the would is it likely that UNC will do the same? Does anyone know if last year they came out early?

Last year they came out mid January I believe.

Its best just to check back every so often.

I was going to ask this too! Apparently the deadline is “by the 30th” so hopefully they’ll be out sooner rather than later!

only 46 days 14 hours to go! (I have a widget countdown)

There is an answer to this somewhere on the UNC Admissions blog if you feel like searching for it. The basic gist of it was that yes, they did get decisions out about a week before the deadline last year. However, this year they have been right on track so far for January 30.

That said…it definitely pays to check frequently throughout January. I think it’s probable that they come out at least a few days early.

Has the number of applications gone up from last year? Anyone know?

UNC-Chapel Hill’s director of undergraduate admissions recently posted:

In previous years, UNC has often been able to post decisions slightly early – but it seems like it’s possible that won’t happen this year.

Note that last year, even though they posted decisions early, it was all announced in advance. So you don’t have to keep reloading the UNC admissions page; just check the blog every once in a while. Best of luck!
