Hi!! im confused whether it is necessary to take both the act and the sat. im aware that I personally score better on the act and the colleges im lookin at take either. however, does it look better if u submit both scores? thanks for ur help!

Almost all schools accept either. Its a good idea to take the plus writing portion of the ACT though. Most elite schools also require either 2 or 3 SAT II's (also know as the SAT subject tests)

I'm taking both in the hopes I'll do better on one than the other. I've heard that a lot of people are better at one than the other.

I'm pretty sure I'll bomb my upcoming SAT. I just started studying and decided to use the first practice test in sections to see how I perform without time constraints...only got from 630-710 range on the CR...(didn't attempt the math because I haven't reviewed Geometry yet)

In other words: I fail at the SAT.

I'll have ample time to study for the ACT though, since I'm not taking it until June.

I'm submitting both. -shrug- Just trying to send as much material as I can (without going overboard).

LKei, depending on the schools, if your ACT is much better than your SAT, you may not want to submit SAT scores unless schools specifically request all that you have taken.

And taken both is unnecessary. I took only SAT, never even looked at anything related to ACT.

Well, already signed up to send the scores, so...

I just want to take both because I want a chance to do better. I want to try the ACT because the SAT just...sucks in my opinion.

All schools take both tests. The last hold out converted about two years ago.

The ACT is nice because often the more competitive (not most competitive) schools won't require SAT IIs with the submission of the ACT.
