Do I have to take both the SAT and the ACT?

Say if I did really well on the ACT, do I have to take the SAT I and II? Do good colleges require both scores? I heard that if a person took the ACT, then he doesn't have to take SAT Subject tests, is this true?

Depends on the requirements of the college you are applying too. Look it up on their website.

what flipper said

I am not aiming at a specific college, just good colleges in general. eg. public ivies, the real ivies…

Then try to take three SAT II’s that you know will do well in. If you are applying for engineering, take one math SAT, on science SAT, and one SAT of your choice.

Some colleges accept an ACT score and 2 SAT II scores in replacement of a SAT I score. I suggest you just take both tests to broaden you choices of colleges.

got it, thanks!

i took ACT’s and scored really well on them (35). I am taking 3 SAT II’s in october but no regular SAT. you should be fine with one, but you need to take 2 or 3 SAT II’s. Most ivies require it
