When I asked an admissions officer a question by e-mail, I only got a "no" as a reply. (Literally two letters) There was no heading or signature or anything... Is this normal? ...or does he/she not like me.

I’d be content with getting a reply in the first place.

He was probably responding using his phone. I know that when I do that, I avoid all unnecessary stuff (salutation, etc.). It takes too long to type.

Don’t overthink it.

Oh okay thanks! Yeah I tend to overthink everything. College process stressss.

Ummmm… what did you ask? If you’ve ever had a position and people ask dumb questions (they do exist, I’m convinced), and you’re not having a good day – one can understand brusqueness.

Heck, you see some awfully simplistic questions posted here on CC all the time.

e.g. What is X’s SAT deadline (look at their webpage) or Is my upward GPA trend good? (versus what? Plateau or declining GPA?)

My question was very specific and not something I could find on the web.
I have a specific situation, and I was asking if I would be considered for financial aid (from the school).

Admissions people are not the same as financial aid people. You probably asked the wrong person, but got a reply anyway.

True, but usually the contact information of the admissions people are provided. I’m sure my question could have been answered by the admissions officer. It was also concerning my eligibility as a potential applicant as well.
