Is it normal that I am burned out from this schedule?

I'm a very smart person. I got straight A's in high school and was valedictorian. I slacked off for the first two years getting all my GE's/lower division econ classes out of the way. This is my schedule for Winter 2010:

Econ 103
Physics 17
Physics 1B
Math 32A
Astro 81

I'm doing a bus-econ and astrophysics double major, that explains the varied courseload. I am so burned out though already but I don't have any GE's left to dilute the process! Fortunately it's seventh week but still...do you think a super genius would be able to do this courseload without getting burned out?

Quit being so cocky, it is working against you.

Who do you have for Physics 1B? Your success/stress level in that class is directly proportional to the professor you have.
Math 32A isn’t a tough class and I’m sure you’re doing fine in that.

That leaves Physics 17, Econ 103, and Astro 81. I’m going to guess that Econ 103 isn’t trivial, being upperdiv econ and all. Physics 17 is probably in the same boat as 1B (physics is non-intuitive stuff which makes it require a professor). No clue about Astro 81.

If you’ve slacked off the last few years then this schedule is probably a kick in the balls to wake up and smell the UCLA. It is definitely possible to do but it will take a magnitude of work greater to do this than previous quarters, if what you said is true and you really slacked the last two years.

Question though: why did you take 5 classes? Maybe drop it to 4 a quarter in the Spring?

hahaha this guy is ridiculous

Either that’s a good ■■■■■ or conceited Internet newb.

Exhibit A: “I’m a very smart person. I got straight A’s in high school and was valedictorian.”
Exhibit B: “do you think a super genius would be able to do this courseload without getting burned out?”

A super genius would’ve gotten his PhD at the age of 16.

How are you taking Physics 1B and Physics 17 at the same time? 1C is a pre-rec for 17, and 1B is a pre-rec for 1C. I doubt you’ll finish on time just because of sequence courses and pre-recs (how will you get the Physics 115 series done? You can’t take 115A until co-rec with 110B or 105B (can’t remember which), which would be next winter, so you won’t actually be able to graduate in 4 years. Since you won’t be able to graduate in 4 years, you won’t be able to double major. Also, since you haven’t finished all your lower divs, you won’t be able to double major officially (I tried when all I have left is Physics 18L, doubling Applied Math/Physics), and you will never get your petition approved.

You obviously have no idea what you’re doing and need to see your advisor immediately. GO. RIGHT NOW. DO NOT FINISH READING THIS POST.

Also, how are you still in 32A in your third year? Even if you enter into precalc, you should have taken 32A last fall (of second year).

Your post does not make sense in itself either. You claim to get all your lower div econs and G.E.s out of the way, and that was it. That’s what, like 8 classes for econ, and 10 for G.E.s? 18 classes in two years. That’s 3 classes per quarter, assuming you took a quarter off. If you wanted to actually get a double major, you should have thought about that a long time ago.
Good luck getting one degree, and BTW, that schedule in and of itself is not that difficult; I’m doing Math 131BH, Physics 105A, Physics 110A plus honors seminar, Physics 4BL, and Honor Collegium 70A, and I wasn’t even top 10% of my high school class.

@Gotlactose, Terrence Tao took until 20, so it’s ok to wait until then for the PhD. As long as you have a theorem or law named for you by the age of 25, you’re good (unless it’s something like Megan’s Law).

Obvious ■■■■■ is obvious.
