If I send three teacher recommendations as opposed to the required two, is this OK?
Will this negatively impact the image of my application?

I have the same question, actually.

My D sent three & was accepted.

I’m not sure on whether I will send 2 teacher + employer or 3 + employer.

At the cornell information session i went to this summer, the guy said that Cornell accepts a maximum of 4 recommendations I believe.

He said they had 1 kid who sent 18 recommendations hahah. But he said that kid was rejected, but didnt say if it was because of those recommendations or test scores, gpa, etc.

Side note- I’m sending 2 teacher recommendations and 1 employer.

This is from the freshmen admission booklet (pdf) available on Cornell’s website.

That being said, I might send three… but I’m still not sure.

18 recs??? That kid had some connecions!

I was just wondering…how is it two? Two teacher recs or one teacher rec and one counselor rec?
If it’s just 2 teacher recs…do we not need a counselor rec? Confused…

I think the common app. specifies that one rec. must be from GC? My D had one from GC, one from Psych teacher, one from Cornell alumni.

The guidance rec is a given. When colleges mention how many letters they are referring to your teacher recs. So if Cornell says 2 then they want 2 teacher recs and 1 guidance.

I sent in three recs from teachers and it was fine.
The guidance rec was a separate rec that was required.
