Is it OK to Switch from a Boarding School to a Public School during my Junior Year?

During my Freshman year, I had attended a public high school. I then then transferred to a private boarding school in my Sophomore year. From my experience, I don’t like attending boarding school. I really want to transfer out and return to my previous public school. However, in terms of Colleges looking at my resume, I don’t think they would see it as any beneficial sign, especially since I would be heading back to the same school I had left for my Junior year. I would like to know what’s the best decision I can make? I’m currently not happy with the current state of the school I am at now, but I’m assuming it really makes a negative impact when applying to Colleges, but I’m not sure of that…

It will not be negative for your college applications. Transfer back, do well, be happier.

In and of itself it means little to nothing. May even establish yourself as sustainable to adversity in the constantly changing environment. With that said, if your grades look something like:

9th: AAAAAA
10th: CCCCCC
11th: AAAAAA

You would obviously need to do some explaining, and it might adversely impact you, depending on your explanation.

Many high school students have no choice but to go to a second or third school. My kids went to 3 different schools. I had to transfer my senior year.

It might be worth talking about what you learned about yourself from your year at BS in an essay.
