I won’t specify the sport because I don’t want anyone putting two and two together :)>- but I’m a sophomore and I did the sport to seem well rounded freshmen year and ended up being ridiculously good at it. Now it’s the end of sophomore year and I hate it, it’s taking over my life and I do NOT want to continue it in college nor do I want an athletic scholarship. I’m an extremely academic person with a lot of outside volunteer work (which the sport has kept me from continuing in) and leadership positions. Would it be okay if I just quit now? College wise okay,
Thanks, just want to hear some other opinions on it
lmao learn to balance both… varsity sports look jus tas good as yoru volunteer work.
You should do what you want. Schools don’t care what you do as long as you do something.
Don’t continue just because you think it will look good on college apps. Your EC’s should allow you to explore your interests outside of school and should reflect your passions. It is silly to continue with a sport that you hate, especially if it keeps you away from what you really enjoy.
I say quit. Junior year (this year) I quit varsity cross country & it was overall a good decision. I’ve been able to excel in more academics & leadership. (I obtained 3 leadership positions for next year bc I’m not in sports). If you aren’t enjoying sports & you don’t want to do anything in college with it it honestly is a waste of time.
Don’t do something to please potential colleges, do it because you enjoy it. If you want to quit your sport, quit.
