I am planning on answering Prompt 4: "Describe a place or environment where you are perfectly content. What do you do or experience there, and why is it meaningful to you?". I want to write about how helping out with my class' Homecoming float and dancing in our parade is the highlight of each school year, and I can discuss leadership and teamwork (I was on Class Board last year so I ran much of it). However, this doesn't have anything to do with either Music or Business, my two intended majors. Is that acceptable or should I do something else? I feel that the essay will show a passion of mine and show a lot about me.

OMG YES. The essay is your chance to show them why you matter. I think it may factor in at some point, but I don’t think it’s enough to make or break you from getting into the school. Is the new Common App available already?

No, it re-opens August 1. But the prompts are the same as last year.

As long as it shows who you are as a person (like you said) it is fine as a topic. :)

That seems like a great topic. Just make sure to describe who you are and what you have contributed. Make sure to phrase it in a way that makes you stand apart.

Ok great!

Leadership and teamwork are absolutely relevant to business.

I never thought writing an essay would be this difficult. I am having trouble just getting started!!
