I've been accepted to Loomis Chaffee on a generous grant, however, it is still not enough. The only way I could attend is for them to give us a larger grant.
Is it acceptable to ask the school for more?
Thank you!

Of course, you can ask for more. Point out any changes in your financial situation or provide more financial detail to support your request.

thank you!

but will it affect the school decision? Will they change their mind about the decision? :-s.

nope, the worst case scenario is that you won’t get more aid. they won’t rescind your offer if they can’t offer you more aid, if they simply can’t offer you more aid, then you’ll have to say that you’re unable to attend.

After they cannot give you more aid, you can ask them for tuition reduction and fee waivers instead :/)

What’s the difference between FA and tuition reduction ?

Yeah, they are very different in spelling.

On a more serious note, how much increase have people got from their experience?

That is, hands down, the funniest thing I have ever read on this board. “I fully understand that due to your endowment constraints and increased requests from countless families reeling from an unforgiving recession, you are unable to increase the award for my child so I’m willing to meet you halfway. What if you were to discount the tuition by the amount that I am short and I’ll cut you a check for the full family contribution right now? rushes out the room to grab the checkbook and call Business Office

I love the Prep School Admissions forum.
