I understand that the admissions team wants to get a sense of who you are, how you were you brought up, the way you think, etc.

Doesn't it also depend if it fits the topic?
Or is it best to be honest and portray your true personality or not curse at all so as not to offend anyone?

Just say “F**ck you, adcom”
and say “jk” in the end.

It would be pretty interesting. I’ll bet you Harvard will take you in if you got the right credentials.
I keep saying college admissions is like a woman. You gotta be spontaneous and interesting to keep them interested. Or else you’ll be rejected like everyone else.

Rofflecopter: I started my ComApp essay with a quote from an ancient Egyptian that made reference to beer. My mother was worried about even that.

I’d just stick to clever wordplay instead. Usually, when curse words are added to a formal piece they connote strong, negative feelings, which would go against your intention to lightly describe something.

“D.a.m.n” I think might work if used tastefully. It does signify strong emotion, so if used properly it might enhance your piece, otherwise be careful.

One of my friend’s heroes is the guy who cussed on his essay and got accepted to Harvard. It’s been done before, but I think those who do it walk a fine line between sounding sophisticated and clever or trashy and wannabe attention getter.
