Is it possible for the SAT machines to screw up grading?

I'm kinda worried about this, as often my pencil markings smear or smudge. In school, when I take ScanTron tests, once in a while something smears or smudges and the machine counts something wrong that should have been right. Luckily my teachers can fix things like this. Is there any way to ask the people at "SAT headquarters" to double-check my score? Is there a good chance that the machine could mess up my score if I smear or w/e?

I guess I'll just have to be really careful next time.

It could happen, and has happened in the past. Graders of the SAT I do not grade the multiple choice--they only grade the essays themselves.

In other words, be careful. If smudges are made, however, don't waste time during the section erasing--little marks and smudges can wait.

yeah could be, the proctor told me today (june 2) how erase very well because the computer might recognize an answer u erased..therefore will mark it wrong for putting 2 answers.

yeah... there were huge problems with october '05.
that's one of the reasons they let you pay a huge price for hand scoring.

Or you simply fill in the answer to wrong spot....Ouch..........

ok so i was reading a strat book for the sat, and i heard if u got a dull pencil, and just made a mark that filled up a good chunk of the middle of the circle, that the scantron counts it. It said that this is a good time saver, imagine just quickly marking the circle with 1 mark, instead of filling it in

impossible is nothing
