I have a lot of AP credits/dual enrollment and am debating whether to take summer courses to ensure that I graduate in 3 years.
I did, however, have a friend that entered UT as a junior and she ended up just staying the 2 extra years anyways because she liked it so much.
Thoughts? Opinions?
I am an entering freshman.
I’m probably not the right person to ask, because I would have stayed at UT forever if they’d let me!
What’s your hurry?
UT is great. Austin is great. Unless you have a financial issue, take your time. Know that summer school is notoriously expensive dky. Kids in a hurry spend their summers in cc.
My other thought is that employers will prefer older students. You will look enough like a kid at 21, get that extra year of maturity.
You can only stay for 3 years if you want - unless you’re in BHP (they require all 4 years). Keep in mind that recruiting mainly happens during Junior and Senior year so you’ll just have less time in class to better prepare you for recruiting. It’s really up to you, but it is possible. I have 40 hours going in so I was in the same situation, but I decided to reapply to BHP sophomore year. If I don’t get in I’ll just only stay for 3 years. I feel confident I’ll be prepared for recruiting because all of the classes I’ll need for recruiting I’ll be taking sophomore year. Just depends on how comfortable you are with your ability and schedule.
