Is it possible to appeal financial aid after you're accepted from the waitlist?

I got waitlisted at Brown and would really like to attend. However, if I was accepted I'm scared that the price would be too high for my family to afford. Is it possible to appeal the financial aid offer/would they even give me anything considering that I am a waitlist-er? My second choice school (that I have already committed to) Amherst gave me a lot of grants. My parents and I only have to pay about 10k. Is it worth it to keep pursing Brown? Would it be possible to get that good of a Financial Aid as Amherst if I were to keep pursing it?

If you come off the WL, and your aid isnt enough, you could ask for a review. You could politely ask if they want to see what A offered.

Yes, it is worth it if you prefer to go to Brown. You might get as good or better aid at Brown, if accepted and if you do not a package that is competitive. , you have Amherst’s offer that you can show them as what it would take to take the waitlist offer if it comes.

I suggestyou ask them now, but if they say to call them if you get off the waiytlist, do that.

Brown promises to meet demonstrated need for all US Citizens and permanent residents, even those admitted off the wait list. <a href=“Apply for Aid as a First-Year or Transfer Student | Financial Aid Undergradute | Brown University”>http://www.brown.edu/about/administration/financial-aid/first-year-applicants

mom2collegekids’s advice is sound as to approach.

There is no reason to contact Brown now. As noted above, if you are accepted, Brown will meet your full financial need. If the event the financial aid offer is inadequate, you can discuss it with them then. And if, after discussion, it remains inadequate, then you just say “Thanks, but no thamks” and stick with Amherst.
