Is it possible to be a Biology major without taking Ecology or field work?Best for med school?

I was more into Human biology in school, would Microbiology or Biochemistry possibly be a better major?? Would Neuroscience be a better major if my main interest is Human biology, possibly less psychology involved? I’m also interested in possibly applying to medical school, what major would be more suitable in terms of covering the prerequisite courses for medical school?

For Medical school, you can major in anything and it does not have to science related as long as you can fit in all the required Pre-Med courses to apply. Pick what interests you.

@Gumbymom The issue is if I really do just pick a major that interests me, I may have a tougher time doing all the science courses. I have multiple academic interests(Human Biology, Economic, Politics), the issue is majoring in a humanities subject or social science makes it harder to do pre-med courses, It would be like one massive headache for me personally.

Would you know which type of Bio major would have the least amount of Ecology, possibly less time doing field work and more time in the lab??

You might want to consider Microbiology. No ecology courses and lab work related to the Micro/Bio/Chem and Physics courses. It should cover all the Medical School pre-req’s that are science related (Bio/Chem/Physics/Anatomy&Physio).

Biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, exercise biology, neuroscience and physiology are majors that meet your criteria and have some degree of availability. Look at the exact courses required at specific universities to see how much they cover the medical school prerequisites.
