I’m a sophomore transferring next fall. I finished my applications for the UC’s and I’m guaranteed in for SB. I’m an economics major, and both engineering/computer science ALWAYS interested me. I did horrible in high school, and it would’ve been mandatory to stay 3-4 years to transfer out, which I’m not willing to do. Is it impossible to switch majors once you transfer? Or should I take some extracurricular courses separate from school? Any input would be great - Thanks!
It depends on the school and the department of your new intended major. However, if you do not have sufficient course work that will allow you to graduate in a reasonable time after transfer in the new intended major, do not expect to be allowed to change into it even if it would otherwise be allowed.
In other words, if you want to major in CS or an engineering major, take all of the prerequisites you can before transfer and apply as such a major when making your transfer applications.
