Does MIT accept strong applicants even if they have no math/science-related ECs?

of course not. how can non-nerds get into an "institute of technology"???!???

ermmmm...of course they do. all ofthe ppl who i know who got into MIT have absolutely no math and science accomplishments. in fact one even got like a C in AP chem in jr year. so yeah and they weren't URMS

Actually, it IS impossible. In MIT's supplement, they ask you to videotape yourself interacting with your peers. If you appear TOO socially comfortable, you get rejected. This is a callback to MIT's former name of NIT (Nerds In Transition). However, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts decided that they wanted into the nerdy action so the institution was renamed. In fact, NIT was the place where people not socially acceptable for Harvard were sent.

It's a sad outdated practice but the adcoms require the video.

But seriously, I imagine that it's possible. The strongest math and science kid at my school is the star baseball player and an all around popular guy. So, not every math and science kid is a social recluse.

i actually know someone who got a C in AP chem and got into MIT the following year. the kid was probably the most brilliant person i have ever met though, he was just a little lazy

Nope, sorry. Find safeties. kthnksbye

I am very smart person but I am not a ner, in actuality, i am a party animal, but a smart animal, like a dolphin

Of course, being a party animal in college is not always a good thing.

Not every college is like "Animal House" and "Old School," ya know.

If you read my posting you would see that I am a smart party animal (SMARTdude08) I am smart like a dolphin, not stupid like a goat. I know how to mantain the balance of acedemics and partying.

however i did not apply to MIT because it is a secnd rate school.

THank YOu,
SmartDude09

MIT, second rate?

Maybe second rate to Harvard but it is FAR from second rate compared to most schools in the WORLD.

Dude, he was joking. OMG, people on this site. UGHHHH

^^ uhhh i think Harvard is second rate to MIT :-D lol

Rofl...I doubt he was serious.

oh i'm being serious :-D

^ Oops. I wasn't referring to you. People post fast!

Wait...did you edit your post or something? Okay, I'm confused.

^^ haha yea we love that refresh button

I knew that he was kidding <_<

erm yes MIT >>>>>>>>>>>> Harvard by mucho

Harvard and MIT are not interchangeable! If I wanted a degree in English I would apply to Harvard and not MIT. If I wanted a degree in Engineering then I would apply to MIT! ugh...

Why would you want to go to MIT if you are not a math/science nerd?

^^umm because MIT is just awesome...
