Is it possible to have a double major and graduate in four years?

I am thinking about majoring in political science and minoring in statistics. Is it possible to complete both department's requirements and the core and graduate in 4 years?

Yes, major and minors happen all the time. You can even actually double major if you wish - although you probably lose almost all electives.

Definitely. In your time here you will devote about 1/3 of your courses to the Core, 1/3 to a major, and 1/3 to electives (or a second major or minor)- so you should be just fine. Picking up a minor or a second major decreases the number of pure electives you can take, but if you plan ahead you’ll be just fine. Most students intent on double-majoring or minoring find that most (if not all) of their electives would be taken in that secondary field anyway, so it’s usually not even a big consideration- you could be like me and realize at the end of your 3rd year that you only need one more class to complete a Bio minor, and weren’t even trying for one.

Yes of course. You can even graduate in three years if you want. It really depends on the two majors you want to “double” in. Check the course requirement on the Course Catalog website, but don’t worry about it right now. Go out and play. You have plenty of time to decide. Since I came to UChicago, I’ve switched my prospective major 6 times. =) Congratulations on your acceptance!
