Is it possible to major in Aerospace engineering and Interdisciplinary Astronomy without AP credit

in 4 years? The engineering is 128 credits and the astronomy is 31 credits plus physics 340 which I would also have to take. Would This fit into 8 semesters or would I have to do summers to make this possible? I’m not familiar with how the electives work in the coe. Thanks!

Probably unlikely. Keep in mind that aerospace engineering is in the College of Engineering, whereas interdisciplinary physics is in LSA. If he wants both majors, then you need to fulfill both the College of Engineering and LSA general requirements. So for the interdisciplinary physics major, 31 additional credits may not even be enough. The LSA requirement consists of a certain number of humanities credits, social science credits, the language requirement, and all that. The requirements for the aerospace engineering major may only help to fulfill the natural science and quantitative reasoning requirements.

I would advise just focusing on aerospace, and then maybe taking some additional physics courses on the side if he is interested. Don’t bother with the extra degree, as at the end of the day, the extra time and money spent taking extra semesters probably won’t yield a greater return.
