For some reason I need to take either SAT Chemistry or Biology. I wanted to take the AP Bio class next year, but couldn't due to scheduling conflicts. Now is it possible to study on my own for SAT Biology, or should I choose Chemistry instead? (starting in August, taking the test in October or November)

Personally, I’d say the biology would be easier to self-study.

You can self-study Biology, but if you don’t have a science teacher to help you a bit I would suggest looking at two prep resources. I use Barron’s and SparkNotes. Barron’s is ridiculously long while SparkNotes has a little bit of outdated content in it. However, Barron’s provided in-depth explanation (of some sort) and SparkNotes tells me what I don’t need to study (by comparing its syllabus to Barron’s)

If you’ve already taken biology or chemistry at the high school level, you have all the information you need. Now all you need to do is review the one you feel the most comfortable with.

Thank you all for the replies. However, I solved the problem with my schedule by dropping another class that I decided I wasn’t interested in anymore, so I’ll be taking AP Biology next year (still will need to self-study some material for the SAT though as I’ll take the test in November)

From what I’ve heard, AP Bio will be more than enough prep. Good luck!

I’ m self studying bio too… FOR THIS JUNE!

I hope it goes well for both of us :/
