Possible to Self Study Biology SATII in 2 month?

Hey.

I'm a rising senior.

Err. Here's the story in a nutshell. My parents were forcing me to go into chemical engineering because they thought it would be a great career. I disagreed because I'm terrible at Chem, but took the APChem and SATII Chemistry subject test anyway. I got a 2 on APChem and a 600 on the subject test. Basically I failed. :(

My parents finally saw that Chemistry was something that would end disastrously if I made a career out of it, and then I decided to screw it and go into Bio, which I love (5 on the AP exam). For some reason (I'm an idiot) I haven't taken the SAT Subject test for bio. I'm pretty sure I have one chance to take it before applications, in October. Is it possible to self study from a prep book for the SATII bio exam by that date?

I already took the AP Bio class as a sophomore so all that information is somewhere in my head. I just need to uncover it. Can I self study for the exam with a prep book and get 730+? If so, which prep book should I use?

Thanks so much guys, you're lifesavers. :)

My Biology (honors) teacher’s daughter took the Bio M Subject test with no studying after taking AP Bio and achieved an 800, so it is perfectly possible for you to score well. Just pick up a few prep books (PR, Barrons) and read away to refresh your mind. Personally, I don’t like Kaplan as it is just way too boring and I have found a plethora of mistakes in their books.

Good luck!

You should have no problem, the books (I have barrons) are pretty in depth in covering the subjects that are on the test

The only problem is I took AP Bio over a year ago. Would that be a problem?

Hey guys, I took honors Biology freshman year and I’m set for taking AP Bio next year, senior year. Could I self study and still pull off a decent score? 700+ I have until November so about 3 months.

yes, its pretty possible, its all up to you, i hope youll do well, just “jestko gotov’sya” - ''study hard"

Yeah, you’ll be fine if you study everyday (or mostly everyday) until your test date in October. But maybe you dont have to take the subject test if you already have 2 subject tests under your belt (excluding that chem one, that shouldn’t be sent, IMO).
Anyway, it’s definitely possible, and i think you would get 750+. Get the Barrons, but that only has a shorter diagnostic and two full practice tests. I suggest looking at the library as well. Just remember to erase your marks once you are done!
Also, brush up on the vocab because the subject test may have words you haven’t heard of. I suggest looking at your old notes and reviewing vocab on Quizlet (online flashcard site. SO HELPFUL! I know there’s a vocab set with like 500+ words.)
PM if you have anymore questions :)

Do you mean you wanna take the SAT Biology subject test in November? They only offer AP tests in May (something I didn’t know until people on CC yelled at me), but they give the subject tests in Nov.

@risubu
he might need the score if he is applying ED/EA

Yes, it IS possible! (I wish I had had that much time to devote to studying before I took it!) Just get a good review book (I used McGraw Hill, it was pretty good, but I’m not sure how it compares to others out there.) If you really love Bio your motivation will pay off! :)
