I was wondering if it is really difficult to do so?

???

You dont “transfer” to med school. You apply to med school as long as you have all the necessary prereq classes, mcat exam, and gpa.

getting into UCLA med school is very hard.

are you a current ucla student? have you taken the med school prereqs?

I don’t see why not. I’ve heard of music majors going to med school.

You do not TRANSFER from undergrad to medical school. You complete you bachelor’s degree and enter medical school after applying and being accepted.

are you in the graduate school or under graduate?

In fact, I could see it as a potential benefit if you can draw, say, anatomical structures. You’d have both sides of your brain covered, and you’d probably be a innovative and far-thinking MD.

Students graduating with any major can attend med school, but they have to apply as a first year, they can’t transfer from either UG or grad school.

I’m assuming that the OP is a high school student who maybe just worded things oddly; kids often use “incorrect” language. Let’s not make a big deal of this as he/she was probably curious whether someone from an art background could indeed go to med school – yes, by taking the premed curriculum, and applying to med school. No, probably not, if he/she attends art school.

The purpose of this site is to provide accurate information, so correct terminology is important and it is helpful to inform students so that they can fully understand how admission to medical school works. It’s also useful to ask for clarification as other members have, rather than making assumptions which may lead to false or misleading advice.

Did you not see mom2collegekids’ admonition about 20 minutes before my post? She stated everything that needed to be forwarded to OP. There was a person after my initial post that stated likewise. With the needed corrections, I thought I would provide the OP with information with these corrections in mind. Let’s not make this an issue by being overly pedantic; I’m sure the OP knows his/her mistake by now. As it stands, I’m the only one that has answered.

Another option for you @Livelaughamour1, is you can attend UCLA for art, with admissions towards this being obviously portfolio driven. You can obtain your baccalaureate in studio art, or whatever, then you can take an approximate one year of post bac courses in the the premed curriculum, eightish? , which various colleges will offer, which will give you a straight shot of life & physical-science type courses, so they will be most fresh on your mind as you later prep for the MCAT. Then you apply to med school, UCLA or wherever and get in. With this, you will have proved that indeed, you can study art and later become an MD.
