is it possible...

this might seem stupid, but would it be possible for me to show a college a copy of another college's financial aid package and ask them if they could match it? or would that seem b!tchy/frugal?

once they accept you, you dont have to worry about offending them anymore, and i know a friend who did that and got 4000 more by comparing columbia's package to yale's

This is definitely done by many people. The school will let you know if they will review your aid package based on aid received at another school. Two years ago my daughter was accepted at 5 schools - her top choice said they would reevaluate based on aid packages from other Ivies and indeed raised their package to meet and better the other Ivy package. It is wise to ask.

does this generally only occur with the ivies (i know they're pretty competitive with each other)? i received a ton of aid and scholarship for some of my safeties and i just wanted some of my other schools, the ones i actually want to go to, to give more aid.

what about in-state vs. out-of-state?

If i received more aid from OOS, can I really show it to my in-state school?...because the costs of attending would be completely different.

^ what's OOS?

out-of-state
