Is it practical...

To double major involving a social science/humanity major and a more "marketable" major such as Econ (I realize this is social science)/Finance?

I'm really considering doubling in Econ and Philosophy because I'm considering the prospects of law school and I think both majors would help there (even though I find Philosophy intrinsically more interesting). However in the event I wouldn't get into law school, I could fall back on my Econ. degree for something like IB (assuming I get into a target), right? But I'm also thinking it will be tougher to maintain a high GPA and I want time to enjoy the college experience and to be social.

I don't think I'm being very coherent but if someone is able to decipher what I just said, could you give me your opinion?

Your major does not matter at all after you graduate unless you are majoring in some kind of engineering. If you major only in philosophy, you can still get into business. Actually, last year at my school, a philosophy major got the highest paying job. So, just major in what you like and not what you think is practical (I hate that word).
