Is it premature to send a FA letter?

My daughter received EA admission to her #1 choice private school. We spoke with the admissions counselor many times before and during the application process and he stated to us that this particular school gives out a great amount of merit aid and the offer is usually sent along with or soon after the letter of acceptance. He said everyone usually receive some sort of merit aid. It has been 3+ weeks since we received to admission letter and we have not received anything. Other kids in my daughters class with lower stats received merit aid already.
I would like for my daughter to write a letter to the admissions office politely inquiring whether or not she qualifies for any merit aid. I am afraid the longer we wait the less aid there will be available. I don't want to seem over anxious or greedy though and have this backfire. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely call tomorrow.

What school is this and what are your D’s stats (SAT breakdown or ACT) and GPA?

Other kids in my daughters class with lower stats received merit aid already.

Definitely call tomorrow.

Yes, give them a call tomorrow… or Tuesday if the office is closed Monday for the holiday.

I’d also say, be careful about posting too much identifying information on these boards. Especially when you’re still resolving money matters with a particular college. I would hold back on posting the name of the school and your kid’s stats at the moment.
